Gao Yuan Yi  0373945 GCD60804  Design Principles  / Bachelor of Design (Hons) in Creative Media / Taylor's University Final Compilation Link to Task 1 Exploration Link to Task 2   Visual Analysis Link to Task 3 Developement & Design What have l learnt in this module? During this period, I learned a lot about design principles.  I realized the importance of these principles in design and art for a designer or artist.  What did I enjoy the most? My favorite part of this module was analyzing which design principles artworks follow and improving them through my own designs.  What did l not enjoy the most? I didn't have a least favorite part.  Although I encountered many frustrating problems during the design process, I eventually managed to solve them appropriately. What have l learnt about myself through this module? Through this module, I gained a deeper understanding of my artistic style and discovered which artistic styles and design methods s...

3/3/2025 - 17/3/2025  Week 5 - Week 7 Gao Yuan Yi  0373945 GCD60804  Design Principles  / Bachelor of Design (Hons) in Creative Media / Taylor's University Task 3 Developement & Design Task 3 In this task, we are required to create a work of design, based by the idea I have proposed in Task 2. We are expected to apply our knowledge of design principles in our idea development and final design. We may use any medium and/or materials, except for full photography, that are suitable to convey our final visual message. I decided to use Improve Design #1 to continue my task 3. Fig.1.1 Improve Design #1 Fig.1.2 Original painting:  'Rain Dove' - Adrienne Stein 2019 8 in  x 10 in  (20.3 cm x 25.4 cm) In this design, I changed the positions of the dove and the character, placing them facing each other. In the original painting, the dove stands on the character's shoulder, but in my design, I moved its position and extended the flower crow...

17/2/2025 - 3/3/2025  Week 3 - Week 5 Gao Yuan Yi  0373945 GCD60804  Design Principles  / Bachelor of Design (Hons) in Creative Media / Taylor's University Task 2 Visual Analysis Task 2 In this task we are required to write a 300 - 350 word visual analysis of the artwork I selected from the art gallery, sketch 3 ideas on how the selected design can be improved and describe each idea and support it with a rationale in about 30-50 words. Selected Artwork Chosen Reason:  I feel a deep connection to the portrayal of women in art. I am not only drawn to external beauty and aesthetics but also eager to capture the inner strength and vitality of women through art. This preference aligns with the core ideas of many art movements and feminist theories. The “charm and power” I perceive in women is actually a recognition of their complexity—they can be gentle yet strong, mysterious yet rebellious. My sense of power in art may come from my admiration for maternal stren...

Elements of Design Point : The simplest element; repetition forms lines, and movement creates shapes. Line : Defines boundaries of shapes, expresses motion or emotion, and can depict light and shadow when grouped. Shape : A two-dimensional area, divided into geometric (regular) and organic (irregular) shapes. Form : Three-dimensional shapes, often used in sculpture and architecture. Texture : The tactile quality or visual representation of surfaces, divided into actual and simulated textures. Space : Can be two-dimensional or three-dimensional, divided into positive (filled) and negative (empty) space. Colour : Determined by light wavelengths, with three properties: hue, value, and saturation. 2. Principles of Design Contrast : Attracts attent...
